I make it differently than most people on here, because personally I feel like boiling it in a pot and then straining is too much work. I have a Mr. Coffee that I’ve designated solely for making kratom tea. It’s a typical basket style coffee maker you can buy anywhere for $40(or like me find one at a thrift store.) I’ll measure out my dose and then put it in an unbleached paper coffee filter. Then I’ll put about 2 cups of HOT water into the coffee maker followed by some drops of lime/lemon juice. Here’s the important part, instead of putting the pot under the basket like you would making coffee, I leave the pot off the coffee maker and allow the water to steep in the basket (obviously you have to be careful with the amount of water you use so it doesn’t overflow from the basket). I let it steep for about 15 min occasionally stirring. Then I carefully lift the basket and put the pot underneath and allow it to drain in the pot. Viola, you have perfectly strained tea and no nasty sludge. After it’s drained, I carefully fold the filter with the Kratom sludge and squeeze into the pot (this is important because the strongest part of the tea is what is soaked up by the leaves). I then pour over ice and mix with orange/blackberry/blueberry/acai juice.
